Lidl Now Open in Tysons Corner
What's the word on the street?
Anyone living in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area will tell you that Tysons Corner (or Tysons) is known as a commercial district and a great shopping destination. There you will find two large malls -- Tysons Corner Center and Tysons Galleria which are widely regarded as providing some of the best shopping experiences in the DMV.
However, did you know that over the past several years, Tysons has seen substantial residential development, transforming from primarily a commercial district to a walkable urban area designed for living, working, and leisure?
Results of a new Market Study by Tysons Community Alliance released on August 4, 2023 "reveal a strong post-pandemic recovery in Tysons led largely by an increase in new residents. Tysons’ population has grown by 17% since 2015, reaching over 29,000 residents. Moreover, it is projected that roughly 15,000 more residents will call Tysons home by 2030."
The Tysons Comprehensive Plan
According to Fairfax County, "The Plan is to transform Tysons, by the year 2050, into a walkable, green urban center and home to up to 100,000 residents and 200,000 jobs. Tysons is envisioned as Fairfax County's "downtown," or a 24-hour urban center where people live, work and play. Three-quarters of future growth will be within a half-mile of the stations. Many offices and homes will be a 3 - 6-minute walk from the stations, allowing people to get around on foot, bicycle, bus, or subway."
Transportation
Tysons' close proximity to Interstate 495 and the construction of four Silver Line Metro stations also make it an attractive place to call home for many residents.
Grocery Stores
The growing population in Tysons has led to the opening of new grocery stores, including Harris Teeter in 2009 and Whole Foods in 2019. Now, the highly anticipated moment is here as Lidl opened their brand new store on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2023!
